Rice is a staple food for a lot of countries around the world. It is very easy to make and has a lot of benefits for the body. Traditionally people throw the water in which the rice is cooked or soaked thinking that it doesn’t have any further use. But after reading this article you will never throw rice water again in your life.
There is a difference between fermented rice water and rice water. Rice water is the water in which the rice has been soaked for some time or the water in which it was cooked. If you leave the rice water as it is in the open for a couple of hours or so then it will start smelling foul. This is called fermented rice water. Here is how you can use that fermented rice to make your hair more beautiful and gorgeous.
With Plain Rice
You Will Need:- 1/2 Cup of Rice
- 1 Cup of Water
- Soak half a cup of rice in double the amount of water for a night.
- Strain the water in the morning and store it in a separate glass bottle. Keep this glass bottle aside for a couple of hours or so.
- When a foul smell starts coming from the water move it to a refridgerator and keep it in a cold place for about 6 to 8 hours. The rice water has fermented now.
- This water is very potent and shouldn’t be used directly. Add half a cup of cold water to it and mix it properly together.
- Rinse your hair with this rice water over and over again until your hairs are drenched with this. Leave your hair like this for 10 minutes. You can also cover it with a shower cap.
- Put a mild shampoo in your hair and use cold water to wash off the rice coating from your hair thoroughly. Let your hair dry naturally.
- Repeat this step two to three times in a week to strenghtn your hair and make them more beautiful.
With Boiled Rice
You Will Need:- 1/2 Cup of Rice
- 1 – 1 1/2 Cup of Water
- Heat one or one and a half a cup of water for a few minutes until it starts boiling. Put half a cup of rice in the boiling water.
- Keep the mixture over medium flame until the rice starts cooking a little. Turn the heat to low until the rice has boiled completely.
- Strain the water in which the rice is cooked and keep it aside in a separate bowl to let it cool down to room temperature. Leave it for an additional 3-4 hours to ferment.
- Put a bowl under your hairs and then pour the cooled rice water over your head. Massage with your fingers for a bit and then repeat the process with the rice water collected in the second bowl.
- Repeat this step 4-5 times until the hair stops absorbng more water. Leave the hair then for about 20 minutes.
- Wash your hair with lukewarm water to properly remove the dried rice water from your hairs. Follow up with a mild conditioner.
- Store this water in the fridge and use it twice or thrice in a week to make your hair shine naturally.
With Rice and Coconut Oil
You Will Need:- 1/2 Cup of Rice
- 2 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil
- 3-4 Drops of Rosemary Essential Oil
- Water
- Prepare the fermented rice water just like you did in the first remedy.
- Add a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil and a few drops of rosemary essential oil to the water after it has fermented and mixed them together.
- Put this mixture in the fridge to continue the fermentation.
- Pour this mixture into your hair and then massage your scalp and roots thoroughly with your fingers for about 10-15 minutes.
- Leave the hair as it for an additional half an hour by covering it a showercap or a damp towel to generate some heat for your hairs.
- Rinse off the dried rice mixture from your hair using a mild herbal shampoo and some lukewarm water. Pat your hairs dry with a clean towel.
- Repeat this process thrice a week to get rid of dandruff from your hair and make them look young and beautiful.
With Amla Oil and Rice
You Will Need:- 1/2 Cup of Rice
- 3-4 Tablespoons of Amla Oil
- 1 Teaspoon of Lavender Essential Oil
- 1 Teaspoon of Rosemary Essential Oil
- 1 Teaspoon of Lemon Essential Oil
- Water
- Add the amla oil and the essentail oil concoction to the rice water before it is kept aside for fermentation. You can also add this oil mixture to the boiled rice water as well.
- Once the water has fermented completely, apply it to your hair just like the second remedy. Pour it over your hair, collect the excess in a bowl and then pour it again.
- Massage your head gently by moving your hands in a soft circular motion. Work on your scalp and roots for 10-15 minutes.
- Tie your hair in a small knot or bun and then cover it with a shower cap or a damp towel.
- Keep your hair tied up and covered like this for as long as possible but for at least an hour.
- Wash off the rice water coated on your hair with a herbal shampoo and lukewarm water. Apply a mild conditioner afterward to seal in the moisture in your hair.
- This remedy should be repeated two to three times in a week if you want younger looking radiant hair in a month.
